Organization User role changes

In May, we plan to change the current Organization User role to Organization Service Admin.

This change is designed to give organizations a more practical self-service role for day-to-day provisioning tasks, without granting access to billing, user management, or broader administrative settings.

The updated role will support actions such as managing subscriptions, adding licenses, handling renewal settings, and assigning users to supported services.

Today, the current Organization User role provides very limited value. In practice, organizations that want provisioning access often need to assign the Organization Admin role instead, which also grants wider permissions such as billing visibility, user management, marketplace access, and security-related administration.

The new Organization Service Admin role is intended to close that gap by giving organizations a more suitable operational role with more limited access.

This role change is also an important step toward supporting future approval-based workflows in Cloudmore, including the Organization Internal Approval Process. It creates a clearer role for users who need to manage service actions and trigger approval requests, without giving them broader organization-level control.

What is changing

The current role:

  • Organization User

Will be changed to:

  • Organization Service Admin

The permissions of this role will also be updated. After the change, users with this role will be able to perform service management and provisioning actions that were not previously available to them.

What this means for your customers

If your organization currently uses the Organization User role, those users will automatically be affected by this change. After the update, they will have a more active role in Cloudmore and gain access to service management capabilities.

This means the role will no longer be a passive or minimal-access role. It will instead become a role intended for operational self-service within the organization.

What is not changing

This update does not give these users access to:

  • Billing

  • User management

  • Full organization administration

  • Broader security and administrative settings

This update also does not remove support for custom service license assignments. Organization Admins will still be able to manage those assignments, and the new Organization Service Admin role will also support relevant service-level actions.

Why we are making this change

We are making this change to improve self-service in Cloudmore and give organizations a role that better fits real operational needs.

It allows organizations to delegate provisioning and service management tasks without having to assign full admin access.

Timing

The change is currently planned for 2nd half of May. We will share further details before the update is released.

If you need to review how this change may affect your users, we recommend checking which users in your organization currently have the Organization User role assigned.
